Sisterhood Is Looking For a Few (Lots!) of Great Women!

Sisterhood is seeking Board members for the 2012-2013 term. 

If you like to meet and greet, have fun and eat great snacks, the Sisterhood Board is for you! We host interesting activities (including exercise and self-defense classes, cooking classes, books clubs, Chanukah Cookie Swap, Game Night, Chai Tea and knitting and so much more) and we welcome new members and new programming ideas.

Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County and Congregation Beth Chaim have announced the topic for the February Kosher Café West program:

Thou Shalt Not Lie!

Thursday, February 16

The program will be presented by Rabbi Carolyn Bricklin-Small and will discuss how with so many of the rules given in the Torah, the rabbis realize that nuance is necessary. Rabbi Bricklin-Small will explore the biblical and rabbinic texts related to telling the truth, when is it appropriate to lie, what factors other than the truth must we take into account when we speak and how we decide what we say?

A kosher lunch will be served and pre-registration is required by February 13.

The Sisterhood Stoller Memorial Scholarship

Application Are Now Being Accepted for
THE SISTERHOOD STOLLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

WHO: Women of Congregation Beth Chaim who will be starting their first year of post-high school education next year

WHAT: Sisterhood invites you to write an essay (up to 1 page, typed) describing the experience you have gained and how your participation with Congregation Beth Chaim, social action and community service has made a difference to others.

WHEN: Applications should be submitted by March 23, 2012.
During Shabbat services on Friday, May 11, Sisterhood will present the Sisterhood Stoller Memorial Scholarship.

Through this scholarship program, we honor the vision and efforts of Eileen Stoller, a Past President of Beth Chaim Sisterhood. We are seeking young women who have made important contributions to Beth Chaim and the greater community. It is a time to remember the essence of Eileen by looking to the future for young women who embody the ideals Eileen worked for.
